Shaky algebra
Expanding, factorising and rearranging need to be automatic before VCE. We practise them in every lesson.
Year 10 · Pre-VCE
Year 10 decides which VCE maths subjects your child can choose. We make sure it’s their choice, not their gaps.
First week free, per subject. No payment details needed.

How we teach it
Year 10 is where maths becomes the foundation for VCE. Students who finish it fluent in algebra, quadratics and functions can choose Mathematical Methods with confidence. Students with gaps often find their options narrowed before Year 11 begins.
Classes run weekly for two hours, with up to eight students. We start with a short pre-assessment so the tutor knows where each student is, then work through our own lesson booklet in step with the school year. The tutor explains, models examples and checks each student’s working during the lesson. Homework booklets are marked, and students can book free one-on-one help desks.
In Term 4 we preview Year 11 Methods topics — functions and relations, and the gallery of graphs — so students start VCE already familiar with the language.

Term-by-term plan
Linear equations · Indices and surds · Geometry and measurement
Probability · Data analysis · Quadratic functions
Exponentials and logarithms · Polynomials · Circular functions
Gallery of graphs · Functions and relations · Year 11 Methods preview
Order may change based on each student's pre-assessment and school.

Section A
Expanding, factorising and rearranging need to be automatic before VCE. We practise them in every lesson.
Clear working earns method marks in VCE. We build the habit now, while the questions are shorter.
We help families understand the difference between Methods and General Maths before subject selection.
Section B
Topic tests and tasks set by your school through the year.
Many schools use Year 10 results to decide entry into Year 11 Mathematical Methods.
Algebra and quadratics questions with worked solutions — the skills VCE Methods needs.
